The BEACH Lab at UNC - Wilmington is led by Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Nora E. Noel.  The laboratory research focus is the examination of alcohol and caffeine use as related to social and cognitive behaviors.  We are also studying health related issues, such as racial disparities in cancer treatment.

Our laboratory is located in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building, on the UNCW Campus.  Research facilities include a technologically equipped experimental room, observation room, and graduate student offices.

RECENT BEACHLAB AWARDS AND HONORS:

Rising Senior (and BEACHLAB Member), Benjamin O'Brien has received a UNCW Undergraduate Research Fellowship Award for the 2007-2008 Academic year from the Center for Support of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CSURF).  Congratulations, Ben!

Former BEACH Lab member (even before it was called BEACH Lab!) Ms. Puja Seth became Dr. Puja Seth on May 12, 2007, when she received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia.  Congratulations, Puja!

Former BEACH Lab member (even before it was called BEACH Lab!) Mr. Christopher Goings defended his master's thesis on May 22 and passed his Comprehensive Examination in June, 2007.  He will be awarded his Master's degree in Psychology, General Concentration in the next UNCW graduation.  Congratulations, Chris!

On October 2, 2007, Ms. Gina M. Greene, Graduate Student Researcher in the BEACH Lab, will be recognized at the Annual Academic Awards Program (Division of Academic Affairs, Office for Academic Success Initiatives) for her excellent academic performance and leadership during the '06-'07 Academic Year.  Congratulations to Gina!
